    P. Stewart Lanier is a self-employed organization and leadership development
    consultant. He provides a wide range of consulting services to nonprofits, community
    organizations, congregations, government agencies, and businesses. He holds a Master
    of Science degree (with distinction) from American University’s NTL program in
    Organizational Development, as well as the M.Div. from Candler School of Theology,
    Emory University.

    The focus of Mr. Lanier’s work is to assist leaders, teams, multi-stakeholder groups, boards and councils as they
    guide their organizations/communities through times of innovation, change and redevelopment.  This includes
    engaging stakeholders in developing shared vision and strategy. It often includes assessing organizational
    strengths and needs, developing leadership structures, mediating conflict, creating new meeting routines and
    behavioral guidelines, problem-solving and strategic planning.  Mr. Lanier typically works with a small steering
    committee that is authorized by the sponsor/official board to guide the consultation process.

    Mr. Lanier began his professional career as a United Methodist pastor, and maintains his ordination in good
    standing in the New England Conference of the United Methodist Church. He served as pastor of three
    churches. He has held clergy standing in the UCC, UMC and PC/USA denominations. Mr. Lanier has recently
    served as the Interim Director of Administration and Finance at Consumer Quality Initiatives, Inc. in Roxbury,
    MA, and as Interim Executive Director of the Little Compton (RI) Community Center, The City School,
    Dorchester, MA, and City Life/Vida Urbana, Jamaica Plain, MA.

    Mr. Lanier is a member of Third Sector New England's Executive and Organizational Transition consulting group
    and interim executive pool. He is an approved vendor and regularly collaborates with the UMASS Donahue
    Institute on organizational development and technical assistance projects. He is a member of the White People
    Challenging Racism facilitator group and will co-facilitate his first class in 2011. He is contracted with the
    Commonwealth of Massachusetts Operational Services Division (OSD) to provide management consulting and
    planning to state agencies.
